I happen to find myself on a religious platform. A group member shared a self-homemade masturbating video. I want to think the person was sending it somewhere else but mistakenly posted it to the group. You should have seen the reaction of some of the other group members. They expressed shock and disbelief, maybe, because this was a religious group. You can bet some of them are in other social groups where this kind of video is rampant but over there, they care less.
Reminds me of a case where an announcer in the church said,
Young ladies, this is the house of God, please dress decently when coming in here.
This implies that outside of the church, they can dress indecently. These are double standards. Well, I would also not be surprised if there are other members in this same group who have such videos on their devices…
Anyway, this unfortunate person who sent that video reflects the sexual perversion that is gradually taking over our society. Why would you want to record things meant to be private, on a smartphone? Why would you want to download pornographic materials to watch and keep on your phone? What happens when such a video makes it to your school, church, or workplace? Would you be comfortable?
Now, instead of sharing things that would uplift, develop, and grow our souls, we are interested in sharing stuff that destroys us subtly without knowing we are being destroyed. There is a third world war going on and people are losing their lives, only this time guns and atomic bombs are not the weapons of destruction, but the new weapons used are the indiscriminate sharing of unwholesome texts, pictures, and videos. These are the tools employed to destroy personalities, marriages, emotional health, and people’s psyche. We see bloody accidents and we are just interested in capturing the bloody moment and sharing on social media. We see people in distress and instead of helping, we bring out our phones to capture the moment and circulate. We come across sex tapes and all we are interested in is sharing and not caring about the dignity of the victim(s).
Your children, your siblings, and youngsters like to play with your devices, do you have any idea the damage you are doing to these young ones if they chance upon these videos on your gadgets?
We are destroying their innocence, psyche, and emotional health even before they have a chance to grow up and when in the next generation, we have more sexual perverts and violent people – Were we not part of creating these monstrous personalities.?
We live in an age where as soon as you press the send button it is difficult to retract. Modern apps indeed have delete features but trust me whatever you send always leaves a digital footprint and shadow that we can recover if we want to. Most gadgets have “cloud” storage where, your pictures, emails, etc. are stored. Therefore
stay alert and watch out for your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour – 1Peter 5:8
And one of his subtle methods of devouring is using the negative sides of technology to destroy. We must rise and resist the devil and this new trick of mass destruction he is employing.
